How are the servings?

Not great.

MusclePharm suggest 1 – 2 servings a day when using Shred Sport, but more are needed for the full fat burning effects.

Ideally you want a fat burner that provides you with around 3 – 4 servings a day, this keeps all the effects constant so you burn off the pounds off ’round-the-clock’ throughout the day.

What about the Ingredients in MusclePharm’s Shred Sport?

They’re ok. But they could be better.

Don’t get us wrong, there are some good ingredients in Shred Sport, but more could be done here if you’re looking to get the full fat burning benefits.

L-Carnitine (Both Tartrate and Acetyl) are good choices…

L-Carnitine as an amino acid is great.

It promotes both metabolism and energy, it’s exactly what you need when it comes to losing fat. As long as you’ve got 500 – 2500mg per serving, it’ll definitely have some positive impact – which Shred Sport does.

Caffeine is also a solid option…

One of the most reliable natural stimulants out there.

Caffeine is a great for boosting energy and metabolism – it’s also good in the gym for boosting power output – which will help you on a low calorie diet.

Capsimax is a good thermogenic…

Essentially branded capsicum, which is the compound which gives chili that heat – it’s great for thermogenesis.

It raises your body’s core temperature – this makes your body start a cooldown process which burns extra calories and aids in thermogenesis.

Theactine however, isn’t as effective…

This alkaloid is structurally similar to caffeine, so there’s an idea that it might have similar effects when it comes to energy and metabolism.

However, the studies on this nutrient are limited, and what’s out isn’t that reliable.

It may give you a slight boost in the gym, but it seems to be not very effective at all.

Fucoxanthin falls into a similar boat…

Also known as brown seaweed, Fucoxanthin is thought to help increase fat burning and reduce overall fat mass.

However, this is just what’s thought, there are not enough studies out there to confirm it. At the moment it doesn’t seem to have that much impact, and won’t help you with your goals.

Ingredients Bottom Line:

On the whole, Shred Sport is a bit of a mixed bag.

Although there are some good ingredients here for calorie burning and energy (caffeine & Capsimax) there’s still more that can be done.

It’s a limited nutrient profile and there are no dedicated appetite suppressants – and more thermogenics would’ve helped (Green Tea and Green Coffee Bean).

There’s also a few ineffecitve ingredients here.

It’s an ok nutrient profile, but it’s not the best we’ve seen.
