Review Overview – What does BSN Ripped Edge do?
Created by BSN, this is an all natural fat burner that has been claimed to promote:
- Fat Burning
- Energy
- Fat Loss
But how well does it work?
In this review, we look closer at Ripped Edge to see how effective it really is.
This is what you need to know:
How are the servings?
Poor.
With only 1 serving a day, there’s not a lot of reliable benefit you can get from this fat burner.
Think about it. The effects are only going to last for a few hours – then you’re back to where you started.
What you need is a fat burner that is constantly working in your system throughout the day, helping you make constant progress.
For the best results, we recommend fat burners that have 3 – 4 servings a day, so you’re always burning fat.
What about the ingredients in BSN Ripped Edge?
Not that great.
Some of the ingredients in this fat burner are effective – however there are quite a few that aren’t… and some that even cause side effects.
There are better options out there.
L-Carnitine
One of the better amino acids.
L-Carnitine has been seen to promote both energy and metabolism when dosed effectively.
Studies have shown you need 500 – 2500mg for the best results. At only 250mg in Ripped Edge, may not get full benefit.
Caffeine
Easily the best natural stimulant.
Caffeine has been seen to help improve both energy and metabolism in pretty much all studies.
Not only that, it may also promote power output in the gym, giving you a stronger workout.
Green Tea
A high performing thermogenic.
Green Tea contains catechins, these are antioxidants that help promote fat loss by provoking the release of norepinephrine – your body’s natural fat burning hormone.
It’s a great addition.
Bitter Orange
One of the poorer choices – which may even cause side effects.
Bitter Orange Extract, also known as Synephrine, has been thought to promote fat loss and energy. However, studies have shown that this isn’t the case.
The effects of Synephrine are actually pretty poor – with little to no benefit. Not only that it may also cause side effects.
Citicholine
Good for focus – not for fat loss.
CDP-Choline has been seen in studies to help reduce anxiety while also increasing learning and focus.
This may help you concentrate more in the gym. But it won’t benefit your waistline.
Red Pepper
A good thermogenic.
Red Pepper is a hot chilli that increases overall core temperature.
This is great for fat loss. The rise in temperature encourages your body to start a cooldown process.
This burns extra calories and helps lower your overall fat levels without any extra effort.
Grapefruit
A worse choice.
Grapefruit has been seen to have very little effect when it comes to fat loss.
It may have some mild effect on overall health due to vitamins it contains – but the benefits go no further.
Toothed Club Moss (Huperzine A)
Used mainly for the Huperzine A – a cognitive enhancer.
Although it may help with focus – the benefits are short lived.
Huperzine A isn’t your best option for brain boosting. It has been seen in several studies to build a tolerance to very quickly.
You stop experiencing benefits with long term use – it may also cause side effects in the long run.
It’s not your best option – and at most can only be cycled.
Yohimbe
It’s a good appetite suppressant – but it does have its drawbacks.
Although Yohimbe has been seen to curb hunger cravings it may cause several side effects as many users have reported.
More on these side effects later.
Black Pepper
Nothing special here.
Black Pepper helps to promote nutrient absorption.
Ingredients Bottom Line: On the whole, this isn’t the best nutrient profile on the market. BSN Ripped Edge contains several good ingredients for the fat burning process – but there are some in here that have no effect at all. Not only that, some of the choices, like the Bitter Orange and Yohimbe, are known to cause side effects. It’s definitely not your best option.
Side Effects
There are two ingredients you need to aware or BSN Ripped Edge – the Bitter Orange and the Yohimbe.
Bitter Orange has been seen to cause side effects such as:
- Headaches
- Nausea
- Raised Heart Rate
- Increased Risk of High Blood Pressure
- Light Headedness
Whereas Yohimbe has been linked to causing anxiety, hypertension and gastrointestinal distress.
