Review Overview – What does BSN Hypershred Edge do?
Manufactured by BSN, this is an all natural fat burner that has been claimed to promote:
- Metabolism
- Energy
- Focus
But how well does it really work?
In this review, we look closer at Hypershred Edge to see how effective it really is.
This is what you need to know:
How are the servings?
Not that great.
With only 2 servings a day – this isn’t your best option for fat loss.
Your body can only absorb so much at a time – and the effects only last for a few hours.
For the best results you need to give your body a constant supply of the nutrients it needs.
This keeps your body in a constant fat burning mode helping you to keep making progress.
Ideally this is something that supplies 3 – 4 servings a day.
What about the ingredients in BSN Hypershred Edge?
Good and bad.
Although there are some good choices in Hypershred Edge – don’t get too excited.
In some cases they tend to overdo things – and that’s not necessarily good.
The main problem is there caffeine – there’s so much here that the risk of side effects are very clear.
Here’s what you need to know:
L-Tyrosine
An an amino acid that works mainly as an anti-stressor.
L-Tyrosine is a good choice when it comes to promoting calmness and motivation.
It has been seen to help raise dopamine and serotonin which can make the user feel more relaxed and calmer while training.
L-Carnitine
An amino acid that has several benefits.
Carnitine is a good option. Seen to help with boosting energy and metabolism – it may help to keep you going for longer with some additional fat benefits.
Not only that, studies have shown you need at least 500mg of this nutrient to see any real effects – which is what BSN has dosed Hypershred Edge at.
It’s a good choice.
Caffeine
The caffeine here however, is more of a risk.
Although caffeine is one of the better nutrients for both energy and metabolism – it has even been seen in some cases to promote power output.
The main risk here is the dosage, and how
much you take in on a daily basis.
With 400mg of caffeine per serving – that’s 800mg a day.
This is far more than most people are used to and cause several side effects which we’ll cover in the following section.
Green Tea
One of the better thermogenics.
Green Tea is commonly mentioned as one of the better natural fat burners on the market.
Green Tea is full of antioxidants known as catechins. These are great for fat loss.
After being absorbed this nutrient helps to promote the fat burning hormone norepinephrine – this helps burns additional calories and fat stores with no extra effort.
Cocoa
A good option for blood flow – not so much for fat loss.
Cocoa has been seen to increase blood flow and improve overall circulation.
However, studies have shown that’s it’s not that effective.
It won’t have much of an impact.
Yerba Mate
Not that great of an option.
Yerba Mate is a herb that is full of regular anti oxidants and may promote overall health.
When it comes to fat loss however, the effects are negligible.
Cayenne Pepper
A better thermogenic.
This hot chilli has been seen to help improve overall body heat.
By turning up the temperature, this nutrient initiates a cool down process in your body to regulate itself.
This burns additional calories and fat without you having to put in any additional work.
Citicholine
Also known as CDP Choline.
This is an all natural brain booster which can help to lower anxiety, while increasing focus and learning.
It’s good for focus and cognition – but not actual fat loss.
Black Pepper
Nothing special here, this nutrient may help with absorption.
Ingredients Bottom Line: On the whole, this isn’t the best nutrient profile out there. When it comes to actual fat loss there are only 2 ingredients here that are worth noting – the green tea and the cayenne pepper. Although the caffeine is a good addition, the fact that you’re getting 800mg of it a day really isn’t. It’s not your best option for energy, and with that much, it may actually cause side effects. It’s not looking like the best fat loss stack.
Side Effects
The main concern here, as we’ve said, has got to be the caffeine.
With a huge 800mg per day – BSN’s Hypershred Edge may do more harm than good.
Symptoms from high levels of caffeine include:
- Headaches
- Increased Heart Rate
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Risk of High Blood Pressure
- Heart Palpitations
It’s definitely not what you want while burning fat.
